Ahem

You know, it’s difficult to get back into the habit of blogging at the exact same time as you begin a new job that actually makes you busy during the day and tired in the evening.

I’m all about giving handy hints, even if they may be somewhat (by which I mean “blindingly”) obvious.

Back in business

Hi everybody.

It’s been over a year since I last updated my blog, and I can now come clean about why I suddenly disappeared! You see, it wasn’t so much because I lost interest in blogging (which is perhaps what many of you would consider the most likely reason), but instead because I scored a job working for a Federal MP.

Now, given that on a regular basis I was writing about politics at both a Federal and State level, this would present a potential conflict of interest. Not so much in the good sense — you know, the kind that I would gain financial advantage out of — but because of the fact that it would no longer be ethical to write about (or, more accurately, throw shit at) Federal and/or State politicians given that I work for one.

Given my quite obvious political leanings, I feel kind of dirty to admit that I was overcome by the limp-wristed, pooncy, wet-tissue notion of ethics, but I simply didn’t feel comfortable writing about the sphere that I worked in. Yes, I probably could have gotten away with it if I was careful about what and who I wrote about. But I’m more the kind of person who thinks about that after the damage is done. So in a rare moment of sensibility, I decided to quietly back away from here… Much to the disappointment of my valued reader, I’m sure.

I have recently stopped working for said Federal MP, so you can probably expect me to bust out the phrase “as a former political hack…” from time to time. Try not to hold it against me… I was only a hack for a year. And I’m still alive now…

So there you have it. I’m back now, and while I can’t guarantee regular posting until I get back into the habit of regular writing, I aim to offer the same half-arsed, semi-researched and vaguely-defined opinions that I’ve had on offer since 2003.

C’mon, it’s worth getting excited about.

Community service announcement

I’d blog more, but a new job and not having a permanent internet connection at home (yet) prohibits it. So for the time being new posts will be very irregular.

Just so you know.

Notice

Due to circumstances completely within my control, posting will slow to a squished-bug-like stop over the next little while. Moving houses and continuous internet connectivity don’t usually go hand-in-hand, and this will be no exception. As such, if I disappear for a while, you’ll know why.

I’m not able to give any approximate timeframes, but I’ll pop in to post up some rabid rantings from time to time when I can.

Alive again

So I’m back. From the creator of the original Marty’s Insight comes more of my insight.

I lost interest in blogging for a while there. A number of reasons caused that, mostly increasing personal commitments and also having a job that, while not particularly hard nor demanding, still managed to cause a great deal of stress.

I’ll warn you all in advance that posts here may be somewhat irregular, but I’ll be covering a much larger range of topics than I have previously. There’ll be the usual sprays against lefties and my general views on all things political, mainly things happening in Australia. There’ll also probably be a great deal more motoring-related stuff on here, because I’m a sucker for cars (particularly the Aston DB9). Other stuff will also be here too.

I’ll try to keep personal stuff away. That can get messy and embarrassing. Then again, I don’t really lead much of a life, so it’s unlikely that I’ll be posting about many personal issues. Unless it involves a piss-up and lots of incriminating photos of others.

So anyway, posts will spurt forth at random intervals. If you enjoyed any other blogs I’ve operated in the past (don’t worry — I won’t hold it against you), add this to your bookmarks and let the fun begin.

UPDATE: If, for whatever reason, you’re wondering why there was an unexplained absence throughout pretty much all of 2007, read this post and all will be explained.
