About the author

I’ve been blogging since about the start of 2003. My first blog, Marty’s Insight, is still online at martyk.blogspot.com. It was, more or less, an avenue I used to voice my opinions on politics and the world.

Whilst a lot of the things I wrote on that blog were naive, a bit silly or even occasionally pretty spot-on, I find it interesting to reflect on a lot of the posts there because it documents the formation of a lot of my opinions as I went through university. Also, for the super-keen amongst you, there are a handful of posts in there that document the difficulties I faced in moving out of home for the first time.

After I finished up with the Blogspot site in 2004, I went on to start a group blog called The Rat Pack. It was part of the ever expanding Gravett Empire with Random Prose, Vikki McNaughton, Mike Jericho and myself. It was fun. Later still, either in late 2004 or early 2005 (I can’t remember), Lord Gravett was kind enough to give me my own site on the Gravett server, which reverted to the original title of “Marty’s Insight”. Unfortunately for a number of reasons (mostly to do with me failing to answer my emails in a reasonable time frame), the sites I held on the Gravett server have disappeared. Probably just as well; I was starting to talk some pretty serious rubbish towards the end there.

I find that interest in blogging comes and goes, and a lack of interest in continuing was perhaps the biggest nail in the coffin of my previous blog. The last post there was some months ago. With a fresh mind and a new environment, however, I’m hoping this blog will be able to continue for some time yet.

Take some time to read my introductory post to this blog, as it does contain one or two warnings about what to expect. The most important being that regular posts cannot be guaranteed.

At any rate, thanks for taking the time to read here, and if this humble blog ends up in your Bookmarks folder, then… Uh… Thanks!
